INSTRUCTIONAL STAFF
Michael Gaughan, Band Director
Mr. Gaughan holds degrees from CSU Long Beach and Southern Oregon University, and is now in his 22nd year at Centennial. Since 1991, our director has taught band, orchestra, and general music to grades 5-12. He has taught both high school and junior high marching band! As a trumpet player, Mr. Gaughan has performed with the Cal State Long Beach Wind Symphony, Orchestra, Jazz 1, and marching band, including performances at the Coliseum, Rose Bowl, Angel Stadium, and the Melbourne Australia cricket stadium With various groups throughout high school and college, Mr. Gaughan toured Canada, Europe, and Australia. He also performed with the Tournament of Roses Honor Band Herald Trumpets and the Sacramento Freelancers Drum and Bugle Corps. Professionally, our director has performed at Disneyland in the Magic Kingdom Korps and Christmas parade, and with Fullerton Civic Light Opera,
Musical Theater West, and multiple groups at Downtown Disney.
Mr. Gaughan will be retiring on June 3, 2026!
